Small rodent, HB length about 8 or 9cm, reddish fur, tail greater than 1/3 body length. Ears seemed a bit prominant for vole but it was pretty mangled.

Bank vole

It just goes to show how little is needed for identification. If you blow on the hair on a vole's head you'll see their ears are large it's just that their fur is very long so the ears are covered; in this case the fur is wet and flattened showing the full extent of the ears.
