Thanks for the feedback WLR. I need to get a good butterfly and moth ID book: what I think are 2 different butterflies are often the same, and I wonder whether perhaps I'm therefore missing some which ARE different but to me look the same...
Have a go - and enjoy - you can only learn by experience - The Ringlet can be distinguished by the pale fringe of white hair and the four visble spots on the lower wing of course this can depend on the age of the specimen and even which generation in some Butterflies.
Meadow Brown and Ringlet can be easily confused as indeed Meadow Brown and Gatekeeper
