Description:

A coot is a medium sized water bird or duck. Unlike other ducks coots have a bright, white beak that is a different colour to the rest of it's body. Coots are mainly omnivorus as they eat plants, small animals and eggs.

Hi Margaret,

Coots aren't ducks; apart from other differences, their feet and beaks are quite un-duck like. Ducks have webbed feet; coots have paddle toes.
