Description:

Black, shiny foliose lichen growing on siliceous conglomerate rock (Clee Hills, Shropshire). Large thallus rosette perhaps 20cm across. Dense black isidia with white specks in places, possibly damaged isidia. First image shows 3 interlocking rosettes parts of centres missing. Other two images show close ups of top towards the right area of first image . Possibly Melanelixia fuliginosa subsp. fuliginosa.

Identifications
