I agree with Lone Ranger, looks like wildfowl, probably goose. Note also the way it consists of a number of 'tubes' stuck together.

Thank you gentleman, we do have flights of geese overhead but usually later in the year.
We shall have to be vigilant when bringing in the washing! Regards
