Dreadful pest

The caterpillars are awful pests - white with a brown head and usually living in silk tubes cemented to something solid. They will eat almost anything, including clothes and general household dust and fluff that builds-up out of reach of the hoover behind heavy furniture and the like. Populations can be huge in things like poultry housing where the caterpillars will eat dried droppings, feather dust and moulted feathers.
