Observed: 30th June 2012 By: Nick UptonNick Upton’s reputation in InvertebratesNick Upton’s reputation in InvertebratesNick Upton’s reputation in InvertebratesNick Upton’s reputation in Invertebrates
Pelidnoptera
Description:

I thought this was a sciomyzid with rather dark wings but have been advised it's a Pelidnoptera sp. on Dipera.info - family Phaeomyiidae - another snail-killing fly family within the Sciomyzoidea. I think it has to be P fuscipennis, known from damp woodland in the UK see http://www.naturespot.org.uk/species/pelidnoptera-fuscipennis, as the only other Pelidnoptera species, nigripennis has much darker legs.
