Unusual (to me, I'm a botanist)insect observed at Whiteabbey sea front.
No interactions present.
Although known as the Horntail Wasp (or sometimes Wood Wasp) this is actually only distantly related to the true wasps, and is really a sawfly. Its larvae develop inside the wood of conifer trees.
