Red-tailed bumblebee

The yellow usually indicates a male, however I believe females can have yellow on the shoulder under certain conditions.

male B. lapidarius

I think Graham is correct that this is a male Red-tailed Bumblebee. I've never seen a female with that much yellow on, and the reddish hairs on the hind leg don't match female lapidarius either.
