Hi Nick, do you have a shot of the upper side. I think it maybe an Azure Damselfly because of the black mark on abdominal segment 9.

Hi Chris - sorry no top shot as the bush was quite a tall one. I attach a crop of the clearest pic I have. Dunno if you can see enough to sure... Our neighbour has several small ponds and we often get Dragons/damsels sunning in our garden, but I haven't seen this one before or since.

Hi Nick, it does help, that mark on S9 would be fitting for a male Azure Damselfly but without seeing the mark on the top of S2 it difficult to be absolutely sure. The Common Blue would have all blue upper surfaces of S8 and S9. Regards Chris
