Description:

Clearing part of back garden, find plant growing in pottery planter, completely mystified by it. It's evergreen, about a metre tall, largest leaves 15cm long. Stem is partly green, partly red, smooth. Leaves emerge from stem in threes or fours. No buds of any sort. It survived a very harsh winter. Buddleia was suggested so a second pic shows close up of this plant and a buddleia stem together. I hope someone has an idea of identification or suggestions. Thanks

Peach?

Vaguely reminds me of a peach, or an almond, perhaps.
