Added: 17th June 2012 Description:
Can anyone tell me what kind of bee this is? Many are flying in and out from underneath my bungalow roof tiles. I am anxious to know whether they will be doing any harm to my home. I live in the South West
Confidence: I'm as sure as I can be. Notes: I am not familiar with all the bees of the SW, so I am not going to give a species. If you edit the observation to be in 'Invertebrates' someone else might see it and do better. I do wonder about a melanic B. hypnorum - it is not standard colours for any UK bumble. However, you can rest easy - they will do no harm to your house, so sit back and enjoy them until they leave once the nest matures in the next month or so.
No interactions present.
