Fungi/Lichen? (NOT)

White circle about a couple of millimetres thick, topped by a brown cap. About six or seven millimetres diameter. About thirty up one side (West) of a tree trunk. Will take a better pic next time I am passing.
They look like lots of comic eyes seen on humorous cards, all staring out from the tree trunk.

You'll need a very close close-up to photograph the youngsters. I do have such a photograph, which I'll put on the biodiversity part of my website one of these days, but I was photographing the adults and never saw the young until I blew up the photograph afterwards. I would guess they are about 0.1 mm in length.

By the way, a reminder that it is etiquette to agree with an identification by clicking on "I agree" rather than add a redundant repeat. See http://www.ispot.org.uk/help-etiquette

"If an identification has been suggested by someone else and you agree with them, please do click on the "I agree button", as this helps give confidence in the identification and also helps build the reputation score of the person who has identified it first (see "Reputation on iSpot"). Don't use "Add a revision" to repeat an identification that has already been made (if you want to expand on an existing identification that is best done in the comments for the observation)."
