What is this?

Observed: 9th June 2012 By: silentenygma

This herb? has cropped up all over my pasture in the last couple of weeks. (end of May/earlyJune) Does anyone know what it is please? I need to know if it is poisonous to sheep/horses.

This family -

of plants, the Umbelliferae (or Apiaceae these days) is remarkable in the variation of edibility.
Some, like the water dropworts and hemlock, are really deadly (though not usually dangerous to stock unless the roots are exposed, I believe). Others provide staple vegetables - carrots, parsnips, and so on, whilst many of our favourite spices (carraway, fennel, fenugreek, coriander, and cumin) also come from the group.
