is just part of the learning curve.

I do think, though, that part of the experience of learning this plant should be to chew a small piece.

Then you learn how it gets its common (and Latin) names ...

There is nothing to feel silly about it is an easy mistake if your not familiar with certain plants.I have loads of this growing on the old stone walls around my garden.This site is all about learning and you will remember when you find it again mind there are I think 3 or four types of Stonecrop.
