ID notes

I've added my own ID - identical to the first - to show why I arrive at the same ID just from this photo. Quoting the "textbook" notes of "Dark spots, brown upperparts, white underparts with an orange streak" is not really an aid to understanding how an ID is arrived at if we can't see any of the bits in question.

New ID

Hi Matt, you can always add your own comments at the bottom of the page. The trouble with adding your own ID, the same as mine, is that I don't get any credit for making a correct identification, because your ID carries more authority. For each identification made that is supported by others iSpot allocates points that make your future identifications and agreements carry more weight.

Common smooth newt

This is a very spotty individual.
