Pill Woodlouse & Weevil

I was walking across sand dunes when I noticed this odd little pair. I assume the woodlouse is armadillidium vulgare, but I have no idea about the weevil. I picked them up, and inadvertently knocked the weevil off, but it soon climbed back onto the woodlouse. I then brushed it off again, and watched it climb back on. What was going on here?

Hi Yascha

Interesting observation...i'm no good with weevils so i can't offer you an id.

But i wonder if its the same species that has been seen hitching a ride on birds. Seems to probably be the same behaviour?

You might have already seen this thread...

I hadn't seen that thread,

I hadn't seen that thread, fascinating. I never thought of weevils as a group that tended towards this sort of behaviour. Maybe I should start a WAB thread about it.
