ground elder

Similar flower to the hogweed but flowers more delicate and widely spaced. Stalks also much thinner. Leaves resemble elder tree.

Young elder

Hi Chalkie, yes quite possibly a young elder, thanks for the advice. It didn't cross my mind at the time that this was simply a young plant rather than a short, mature plant (if that makes sense!). Web sources I have looked at indicate ground elder is lower growing and spreading than my plant guide led me to believe, whereas what I saw in the field was more upright. I will have another look when I am next at that site.
