Hedgehogs

Description:

I heard a terrible noise outside my window, the sound was quite distressing. There are no lights on the grass outside so it was extremely hard to focus the camera, which explains the poor quality of the photo. Just listening to 'Saving Species' on Radio 4 and remembered that I had a photo to share.

Identifications and Agreements

Hi Goldfinch,

Thanks for looking at my photo, I think they were courting, although on the radio 4 program they said that the noises are from the female rebuffing the males advances. By the way, if you want to record the same identification you can just press the 'I agree' button.

Hedgehog courtship

The loud noise as you say is part of the courtship, hedgehog females play hard to get calling all the time.

There is another courting hedgehog post at:

including a link to a funny video.
