Pond skater species on a very small upland pool in Northumberland.

Judging by the published atlas for water bugs, Northumberland would be further north than the known range for Gerris argentatus, which is not to say that it couldn't happen, simply that we'd need to be very sure about the identification! I think that we'll have to leave this one as Gerris sp., as Matt says.
