Description:

This is a black and yellow ladybird with lots of variation in colour and spot shape. If handled it exudes a pungent orange liquid from their joints which stains the hand.
Fairly common from May to September, this one appeared to be looking for a way in to a snail shell

14-spot Ladybird

I have the impression that this ladybird is doing particularly well on our Reserve at the moment.

I have seen more of these so

I have seen more of these so far this year than the whole of last year, looks like it's going to be their season!
