Can you tell me what it was feeding on please?
Unsure what it was feeding on as we found 2 and they were both on the path. It is a grassland area with loads of buttercups, cuckoo flowers etc.
Gardening for Wildlife
I put it on the Scottish moths forum and this is Roy Levertons response:
"I've seen something like this before, though not quite so extreme. I suspect
it's a Garden Tiger that has lost nearly all its hairs, perhaps have spun them
into a cocoon. Maybe the cocoon was then torn open by a bird. The few hairs that
remain, plus the very white spiracles, would fit Garden Tiger."
