I agree with Rhagio notatus now I've checked this species out - which is new to me. Looks like it's rarely as far south as my patch, where I've only seen R. scolopaceus and C. cristatus. The abdomen did look more banded than is typical for Chrysopilus and there no golden hairs visible, but the wing patterning is very similar which fooled me..
