Well done, Chris.
I tried my local pocket-handkerchief NR yesterday afternoon but had to wait for guests to leave so I was a bit late for the best of the weather. I did spot one very uncooperative damsel about 9 feet up in a Hawthorn hedge. Looking up at the underside and against the light made identification difficult but I think it was a female Coenagrion - could just about make out the spur - so, if I'm right, it was almost certainly an Azure.
It's a Downy Em. spot, too, but nothing!
Hi John, the Kennet water meadows are starting to buzz now. This was the first Banded but there are 100's of Beautiful's out and numerous other immature damselflies.
No dragonflies though and I'm not expecting any for a week or so. I went to another site yesterday where BBC and FSC are normally out early and there was not a sausage there.
