ants found nearby include L.flavus, confirmed by MJB, and another I think is M. rubra, which I've photographed but not put up on ispot. I'll look around tomorrow for further ants

pedissequum

The first point on the key to these relates to the number of spots on the thoracic pleura. If there are no other yellow spots apart from the vertical stripe, then it is definitely pedissequum s.s..

That appears to be the case in this fly, as far as can be seen.
