beehive 2

This old beehive I found in a blackthorn bush, strangely just out in the open …is this a common occurrence also what species of bee will it be?

Honeybee combs

Feral honeybee nests occur regularly, but are usually in hollow trees (their 'natural' habitat?) or rock hollows. I've sometimes seen then in disused buildings and there was a colony for many years, back in the 1970s, in the tower of Jevington Church in East Sussex.
