I saw the first swallow of this year in the field at the back of the house ,on friday. This is very early for the foothills of the pennines in lancashire, and seemed a little foolhardy on the part of the swallow, as it has been so cold until 3 days ago. However, I have also seen 3 big fat bumblebees this week, so perhaps the insects are coming out .
saw the first celandine of this spring in the lane, also on Friday, and have been getting regular sightings of 2 hares in our fields. One is very bulky indeed !(?pregnant female?).Also, the first tadpoles hatched out of the frogspawn in the pond last weekend. Sorry, no photos, will resurrect the camera!
