The specimen was about 10 mm long, 15 mm including antenae. It had bulging eyes, was red with black spots, including a black triangle behind its head .

Yes, the pattern is distinctive - others are very different from this e.g. P. marginatus is black, P. sibiricus is black with red edges and femoral apices,
