Description:

Another from my own back garden. This character seemed to like hiding away from the sun underneath the leaves.
I think it's a Hover-fly but I have yet to find a matching example to get closer.

Excellent

Thanks, Ophrys, a new one on me, even just at genus level.

Tribe

Bacchini is the tribe which covers Platycheirus and Melanostoma...not a term you see very often!

Ah, a tribe, eh?

I've bumped into that once before in relation to an Anthidium bee, I think.
