Description:

Light grey crustose lichen with ‘jam tart’ fruits with light grey rims around pale brown frosted middles growing on right side of picture next to patch of Lecanora chlarotera (on left side of picture) on branch of deciduous twig. Possibly Lecanora albella.

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

How about Lecanora pulicaris (left) and Lecanora chlarotera (right).

A microscope job, perhaps?

I agree. But I also agree that chemistry and microscopy needed.

Lecanora spp

Just looked at some images of Lecanora pulicaris and the brown does seem similar - close to a rich, dark conker (horse chestnut) brown. Also in searching for the images repeatedly came across mentions of difficulty separating many Lecanora spp solely by general appearance so reinforcing your 'microscope job?' point.
