The first photo

is really good. The delicacy of this unusual flower is caught perfectly.
In the first edition of Keeble Martin's flora, this was one of two personal comments he allowed himself. He referred to it (perhaps not surprising, given that he was a C of E priest) as a "symbol of Christian watchfulness". I'm not of that faith, but it's a nice mental image.
Sadly, neither it, nor his comment on Urtica dioca ("too common") survived into reprints.

I still think the Flora is a beautiful work & also spent 2 years at Dartington where he lived & studied the local flora as I did.
