Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Whenever possible please try to provide at least a description, if not a photo, of the underside of fungi as this can be vital for identification. This might well be Trametes but if so, it should have small pores underneath each bracket.
I'm certainly not an expert but if there are no pores then it I believe it might be a Stereum or possibly Hymenochaete.
