Difficult without seeing stem

Difficult without seeing stem and knowing how tall it was. It seems very early but looks as though it could be an Onopordum (Cotton thistle)- just a possibility

... or a musk thistle perhaps. West Wing, are you sure this was photographed recently?

It was photographed on sunday. Sadly my friend broght me this inflorescens, so I didn't saw the stem, and there is no more picture about it.

He sad, that it was about 30 cm tall, and the leaves were similar to the Common Thistle, that I showed him.

Thanks for the help!
