red-tailed bumble

A really nice portrait... They rarely seem to keep still long enough for me to frame them well, or to pose so well...!

Posing

Hi Nick, thanks for your comments. I was lucky with this one as it was a bit drowsy, there was a frost that morning so I'm wondering if it hadn't woken up properly. In any case in sat very nicely on this stick. As you say they are normally very busy and I find taking clear shots of bumble bees very challenging. Regards Chris.

Chilly bumble

I wondered if it was a chilly one... I was out on Sunday am and it wasn't much above freezing in Wilts too and I found some quite co-operative flies and spiders trying to get warm... Some bumbles were out but mostly moving too fast for me!
