Large white grub, orange head with two sets of jaws, feeding on rotten apple wood in a sandy soil with 25 others of a similar size.
No interactions present.
The legs, head capsule shape and overall abdomen shape, together with it was found in rotting wood indicates stag beetle I think - note rarity status?
The size of it made me think Stag Beetle larva rather than cockchafer larva as it was about 60-70mm long and 15-20mm wide. I have never seen a larva that big.
