Description:

Saw this raptor when in the Sierra Norte mountains, northern Andalucia. Can't say what size as it was always at a distance in the sky so had nothing to give scale, though I would say it was smaller than a buzzard, but not much. Looks like a Bonelli's but not sure.

Short-toed

An impressive eagle which is significantly bigger than a Buzzard. It feeds on snakes and lizards and is easily picked out by the pale underparts with no dark spot at the elbow. It is quite easy to see in Andalucia.

Bonelli's is a rare bird and I have always found it difficult to see....just gliding low over ridges in remote gorges, for example.
