They were previously very common, but seem to be in decline at the moment - in continental Europe, declines of up to 98% have been recorded over the last decade, and ours seem to be following, potentially due to the impact of the Harlequin ladybird - it's something that we're currently investigating
Record your ladybird sightings!
My daughter and I are both keen on finding ladybirds, but neither of us have found a two spot for more than a year.
Was please to find two-spot ladybirds in my garden last weekend, but only two of them so far, compared to about 10 Harlequins and about 30+ seven-spots.

I'm into double figures for 2-spots for the year, but well over the 100 mark for both 7-spots and Harlequins - 2-spots are even well behind Pine ladybirds so far
I could probably find 100 7-spots in my small back garden without really trying. and today, a pine ladybird found me, landing on my arm as I played my ukulele.
Last sunday, I found 7 spot, cream, pine, harlequin and 22 spot.
Hmmm, never considered trying ukulele as a method of attracting insects!
