Certainly Formica, but the

Certainly Formica, but the taxonomy of these is best left to a few very special people. In Scotland it is easy (as far as we know - aquilonia and lugubris only, and they are hard enough). In England & Wales you have lugubris, rufa, polyctena and (mostly) the rufa x polyctena hybrid. On the continent, as here, things are even less certain.
