Bee, unidentified, Rye Meads, 22012-04-04 002
Description:

I was sitting in a hide at Rye Meads when this little chap flew into the lens hood of my camera. When I say into, I mean it. I was looking through the camera at the time, and saw him come in and land (not in focus, obviously)! I took the lens hood off, and he moved up to the rim, and that's where I took this picture. The lens hood is 17cm in diameter, to give you an idea of scale. After a bit he'd had enough, and flew off, pollen load attached.

Oh. Right. Thanks, Murdo.

I told you I knew nothing about bees. There's just so much to learn! And so little time...
