Description:

From a visit to the southwest last week. Puzzled me for a while as I thought it was comfrey but the flower didn't look right.
(I would have liked to ID the little golden bee too but it came out blurred.)

Golden bee

Not a bee, but a fly, I think. Bombylius major, the Bee Fly. You can make out the black at the fore edge of the wings, even though it is hovering. Pretty sure that is what it is, anyway.
