identification

Hi oceanlis,

Just to say that there is no need to repeat an identification once someone has made it, the idea is that if you think the ID is correct you can click on "I agree", if you think it should be something else you can add a different identification via "add a revision".

It doesn't cause any problems if you repeat the same identification, it's just not necessary! For further info see:

Thanks Martin

I'll leave the heading as unknown insect rather than EDIT it to the identification as suggested by another iSpot member, thought it may be easier for someone looking for a similar ID in the future
I didn't realise that the same ID would come come up again with my name on it

heading

There's no problem with editing the heading if you want to, it is the adding of a second identification that makes things a little bit untidy - but it's not a major issue, so don't worry too much about it!

Ok

However

1. It is not possible to add the scientific and common names without the adding of a second ID

2. It would also be useful to have a right click feature that deletes a photo, sometimes there is a download problem here and the same photo gets downloaded twice

3. Perhaps you can explain the Points system to me

editing

Not sure I'm following your point one - you should be able to edit the heading of the whole observation to whatever you want, it's the identification section that has separate boxes for English and scientific names, so if you add anything there it will come out as a further identification - but perhaps I've misunderstood what you're saying here?

For point 2, with the introduction of the new site design the photo upload process has been simplified a little, which may help prevent duplicates being uploaded, but if you do need to delete a photo from an observation you can do so from the "Edit" button, above.

And for the reputation points, there is some further information here:

The improvements are a lot better and have deleted all the duplicates
