Description:

New to me
On the stream bed in woodland gully, sorry about picture quality but my camera was insisting on focusing on everything else and not the wagtail's.The one in the mossy area was a different bird but not sure which is the male or female as both look alike to me.

Male/Female?

As you say Sheila, the pictures are not great but from what I can make out, I'd say the one amongst the moss (3rd pic.) is a female. Only the male has a white wing-bar and there is no sign of white on this photo. There appears to be a hint of a white bar on the second picture, at least.

Thank s

Thanks John, I went back to the spot today and they are still there so I will try to spend an hour or so sitting quietly and get some better shot's of them.

Sit quietly

Good idea Sheila, that's what I did yesterday at a location where I knew the birds were congregating. (the two Chaffinch posts I put up today). A spot, I think, very much like the one where you got these pics. (a small stream in a woodland gully) I sat on the bank above the stream with the sun at my back.
