No, I didn't distinguish between the two - I didn't even know enough to rule out others. But as there was no ID beyond Dung Beetle, I suggested an ID to genus. I only included a species name in my explanation to help the original poster find similar looking pictures and research it further should he want to, and never intended the species name I gave to be taken as a conclusive ID. Thank you for your clarification, and the information about where to find out more! Is there enough in the picture to ID it to species, or were you just suggesting a possible alternative? If this latter, perhaps the ID would be better left at genus level.
