They were everywhere in Hethfelton wood today. I looked at lots of websites and at our tree identifier book.

I don't think this is Pinus sylvestris
'Watereri'which is a slow growing medium sized bush or small tree suitable for the rock garden.The foliage does not look right.P. sylvestris has short needles in pairs that are bluish green with a twist.
Not sure what this Pine is but the foliage looks more like P. radiata.
