Hairy eyes.

She has very hairy eyes, in fact, but the hairs are uniformly spread and not arranged in rows of long hairs down the eye, as in tenax. It is the front and mid tarsi which are pale orange, not the whole leg.

pertinax is very common at the moment, but the smaller Eristalis are just beginning to come out...I had intricarius and arbustorum this morning, as well as tenax and pertinax.

Hairy ..

I'll have to try for an eye closeup. But at least I can recognise them this year.
I saw 3, possibly 4 hoverfly species today; the first I have seen this year.
Your intricarius is nice.
