Description:

A tough-textured multi-shelved bracket fungus, mostly brown on the top with white edges and some evidence of concentric arcs of different shades of brown. A semi-solid honeycomb type underside.

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Where did you get the name

Where did you get the name Grifola campyla from? As far as I know this is not a uk species. Unfortunately not sure what it might be.

Australia

I felt negligent labelling my observations "Not known fungus" so often and so searched the web for similar images - this was the closest. See http://museumvictoria.com.au/forest/plants/bracket.html. You may agree it is similar. I noted it was from Victoria, Australia but knew that some species are multi-national. Despite my efforts I fully expected to be shot down by someone more knowledgeable with a better ID.
