I don't think it can be Viburnum tinus as the petioles on the plant in the photographs is much to short for V. tinus, for which they would be between 1 - 2 cms. Also the edges of the leaves in the photo show no evidence of the hairy edges that V. tinus exhibits. Steve.
Yes, Steve, I agree - now I look at the photos again, the leaves do look too glossy, smooth etc. for V.tinus - I stand corrected! When I first saw it I thought of Escallonia, so I think I was even thinking 'glossy leaves'... Any ideas what it might be?
