How are you IDing this as a grey seal i.e. what features? I can't even see its head - am I missing something?! And was it alive or dead?
OU Certificate in Contemporary Science
well it's a bit tenuous, hence the lack of assertion. The pattern looks a bit like the coat pattern of a seal, as opposed to, say, a piece of upholstery, and there's a suggestion of limbs
and should it indeed be a seal, an assumption of variability so a guess on grey based on distribution and a few photos
latest pics and diptera videos
OK - I can see a face underwater in the second pic now! so will go for seal species.
Hi i was looking for about 10 min , and every 2-3 min the flippers kicked out , wanted to photo this but only had a 90mm macro lens with me not my fast lens , i know this part of the coast very well and before full tide i was taking photos of the molluscs on the rocks. Thankyou Gill and Jeremy, best regards keith, photos of Wales , www.keithevans59.com.
It looks bloated and there's a small round mark in the middle of what I assume is its chest? I wonder if it has been shot and was dying.
Hi Gill ,yes i saw that , it did not come in with the tide , looked like it had a bit of strength left , Regards Keith, Looked at your web site Wonderful.
