Description:

These were rather experimental shots, with an exposure of 1/5,000 second. It pushed the ISO speed rating out to 2,500 and the aperture to 6.3. I shall have to experiment further, I think.

I think he is enjoying himself, nice shot's too and I don't think people realise how attractive the males are.

Thanks, Sheila.

I completely agree with you that these birda are underrated. The males are really quite showy, but the females are pretty good too, in a more restrained sort of way.
There are are lots of common birds to which we don't give the credit they deserve.

Nice shots.

There doesn't seem to be much 'noise' for an image taken at ISO2500 - what camera body are you using if you don't mind me asking?

Of Course I Don't Mind, Roy!

I use a Canon 7D, and the lens was an F4 500mm IS USM L Mk I. The noise is pretty low, I agree with you. I don't know why, but I'm delighted with it, and the 7D as a whole. For the money it's quite a high specification. I may upgrade in a year or so, but it'll have to be impressive before I take the plunge! Would I recommend the 7D? Certainly would...
