A somewhat unusual form, one that could possibly have been taken to be C. squamosa, but at highest resolution we can see that it has red pycnidia - confirming Nigel's ID.

I was so busy focusing (in both senses) on the Cladonia that I didn't see B. rufus at the time, or even later, in the photo.
